The Knitting and Stitching Show and a giveaway

Good afternoon from a wet Dublin. Well I suppose we had a lovely September so we can’t really complain (too much, I mean we *are* Irish, complaining about the weather is a national pastime). Anyway, I have some lovely news. The people at the Knitting and Stitching show got in touch with me and have offered THREE PAIRS OF TICKETS to the show for me to give to my readers. The show runs in the RDS, Dublin, from October 30th – November 2nd.

Since starting knitting again myself and my mum have been to the show every year. It’s the biggest knitting show in Ireland, but you’ll find more than yarn and fabric at it. You’ll also find a range of crafts including beadwork, card-making, cross stitch, dress-making, embroidery, felt-making, jewellery-making, knitting and crochet, lace-making, patchwork and quilting, spinning, weaving and dyeing and tapestry. Last year I even bought some household cleaner. I’m still not sure how this fits in with knitting and stitching :/ but it did a good job on my oven.

JOB1778W0094The K&S show always has a huge range of craft supplies available but you all know I’m a yarn snob, so I would prefer to see more luxury yarns at the show. Coolree Yarns has been there the last two years and will be exhibiting again this year. And I believe This is Knit will be showing off some new Malabrigo yarns. However I do hanker after the knitting shows that I hear of in the UK where there are lots of indie dyers and spinners, offering the opportunity to try new indie yarns. But having said all that I do always come home laden down with new stash and I’m sure this year will be no different.

Folding materialsMy top tips for making the most of the show are to arrive early (to avoid the worst of the crowds) and to have a plan. Before heading to the show I’ll make a note of the yarn requirements for patterns in my queue and I’ll add buttons and beads for stitch markers to that list. If you’re into paper crafts Payper Box is worth checking out. Also keep an eye out for The Black Sheep Ltd stall, which always has large packs of yarn heavily discounted. Every year I drool over the beautiful fabrics but have resisted so far, as I don’t have time for another hobby.

So. To be in with a chance to win one of three pairs of tickets simply leave a comment below (one entry per person) before 12 noon (GMT) Friday 10th October. Please make sure you enter an email address when commenting so I can get in contact with you. The Knitting and Stitching Show runs from Thursday October 30th to Sunday November 2nd 2014, however these tickets are only valid for Thursday, Friday or Sunday. I’ll use a random number generator to choose the winners on Friday 10th October, 2014. I’ll then contact the winners by email and aim to have their tickets in the post by Monday 13th October, 2014.

  1. I remember meeting you & your mum there the year before last!!

The exhibitions were an eye-opener for me. Hadn’t known they would be there and there were works of stunning beauty and skill displayed.

  2. I’ve only been to the show once last year as I was normally away when it’s on & I lived it! There was so much to see (& buy!) I can’t wait to go again this year!

  3. I’m travelling all the way from Bere Island in the glorious south west of Ireland for 3 days. My tickets are bought on line ( reduced price…yippee), accommodation booked a hop and a jump across the road from the RDS and it would make my day if I won a ticket

  4. Would love to go to this show!! After getting into felt in a big way this year I would love to go for a bit of inspiration and a little look at what is on offer!! Just to let people know groupon is doing an offer for this show too! €10 for a Thursday or Sunday ticket. So for the ones that don’t get the 3 golden tickets on offer we can still have a good yarn!! 🙂 x

  5. I love the knitting and stitching show, brought my now 3year old for the first time last year and she still talks about the show. I’d be so happy if I won tickets, I never win anything!

  6. Wouldnt it be nice to win tickets. Like some of the other posters I’ve never been, but heard great things. Would love to go.

  7. Would love to get ‘Herself’ a ticket for this. She’s a great knit. (Well, She’d need to be to put up with me!) I shall wait hopefully. 🙂

  8. Didn’t know if this is the right place to enter. I went to show about 2 years ago and loved it. As a pensioner, you have to think twice where to spend your money and free tickets would be nice for me and my daughter. Thanks

  9. mmm the damage I could do here!!! I’ve just been looking at the exhibitor listing and all the classes – had no idea how big it was.
